PROPOSED HYDROELECTRIC PROJECTS

STAVE RIVER, LAMONT CREEK, FIRE LAKE/UPPER FIRE CREEK and TIPELLA CREEK, SOUTHWESTERN B.C.

Evan H., who lives in Australia, writes me as follow:
I have just been reading some things on then net and came across plans by the company Cloudworks. They want to put in a intake station for hydro power on the Upper Stave River.
What I was reading is the AOA (archaeological overview assessment)  of the area. It list the culturally significant site in the area that they are proposing to build this. The areas are give a medium to high  archeology rating. Click here to read the assesment.
I do not at this time know all of the facts, but from what I can make out is that some capitalists want to destroy some pristine and stunningly beautiful wilderness to capture and sell energy that I believe can be obtained without this destruction. (wind, solar etc.)
I wanted to see you know of anyone I could contact who may know the area from a historical/cultural standpoint.
I don't know anyone. If you do. please leave a comment? Evan will be back in BC roaming through the mountains in July.

PS: Someone has suggested that ALL of these proposals will disappear because of Gordon Campbell's announcement that the Site C dam in the Peace country is going to be built because Site C will provide so much surplus power for British Columbia for the long term forseeable future there will be need anymore for smaller hydro projects.
